(A tone vibration begins and continues through to the end of the audio. A voice speaks, it is deliberate, warm. Between and under the lines are breaths—inhales caught and suspended; exhales resonant and tunneling down. The breaths are unnatural, but they give the sense of a living text, as if the text itself has a pulse.)
The landing page of this site acknowledges your presence. The shape of a large orange eye takes up the screen and it blinks at you. We start with this reflection back on one another. Hello.
Welcome.
I am Yanira Castro and this is a site to engage with my work.
I create experiences for the public to enact. They are immersive, and they require you, and they insist on our complicity.
Often, in my work, I begin with a contract so that you know that your participation is necessary. You are necessary. Your agreement, refusal, counteraction, inspiration, ambivalence is all yours, part of a rehearsal for our collective future.
On this landing page are experiences you can engage with right now or that you can sign up, register, get tickets for. I hope you will spend some time with us. (Group humming that accumulates and sustains to the end of the audio.)
Thank you for being here.
