Abstract
Hetherington's contention that Adams' 1925 determination of the gravitational redshift of Sirius B is the result of a deliberate effort to reproduce the value predicted earlier on theoretical grounds is examined. It is emphasized that Adams' measurement may instead be the result of spectral contamination by scattered light from Sirius A, and the plausibility of that suggestion is confirmed by numerical simulations. There is thus, at present, no evidence to support the contention that Adams may not have acted objectively in this particular scientific endeavor.
