Morocco is considered the gateway to Africa by most people as it serves as a bridge between Africa and Europe. It is a country that appeals to all travelers with its several attractive destinations, historical sights and unique cultural traditions. Among the several things that make Morocco a budget friendly destination is the availability of cheap Marrakech car rentals. If you are traveling to any of the cities in Morocco for the first time and considering renting a car when you get there; read my experience with car rental in Marrakech.

Planning My Trip To Morocco

Traveling to Marakech, Morocco has always been on my bucket list since I was a teenager and this was because of a movie I watched. In the movie, Morocco was displayed as an exotic and enchanting destination filled with many vibrant markets and rich cultural experiences. And I could only imagine what it would be like to have the opportunity to explore this enchanting destination myself. For several years I had it at the back of my mind to travel to Morocco and I am happy to be finally actualizing this dream.

I packed everything that I needed for my trip which was set for the next day and I was overwhelmed with joy, anxiety, and a couple of mixed feelings. As a budget traveler which I was at the time, I was looking for any means possible to save money on my trip without compromising an enjoyable experience. That being said, I began looking for the most affordable means to get around the city as soon as I arrived. The first option that crossed my mind was public transportation but after several thoughts, I realized that won’t cut it because I intended exploring the city to my taste which will require a more flexible means of transportation.

Renting a car in Morocco

Car rental in Morocco was the other option that crossed my mind but I thought that would be really expensive for my budget. However, I decided to confirm. I went online to search for affordable car rental options in Morocco and the first search result that appeared was from a marketplace called OneClickDrive. I explored the options on the marketplace and to my surprise, the rates were extremely affordable, I could hardly believe it.

The marketplace was so diverse with so many different options; from budget friendly compact vehicles to luxury SUVs and sport cars. The luxury options were way beyond my budget so I went for economy vehicles which rental prices ranged from 500 to 1400 mad per day. After selecting the vehicle of my choice and booking it in advance, I had peace of mind knowing fully well that I had solved more than half of my transportation worries in Morocco.

Arriving in Morocco

My journey to Morocco took place the next day and since I was coming from London, the flight was quite short. The first thing I did when I arrived in Morocco was to head straight for the pick up of my rental vehicle. Upon arriving at the pick up destination, I was greeted by a well dressed representative who asked for my reservation details and my necessary documents. I submitted everything including my passport, driver license and credit card for deposit. After verifying my information, he explained the rental agreement, terms and conditions, and insurance options.

He also presented additional perks to me such as child seats and GPS which I declined. I went ahead and inspected the vehicle thoroughly and was satisfied with its condition. The vehicle in fact seems as if it was purchased just a day before. I also checked the fuel levels and confirmed that it was full before I drove off.

Final thoughts

My trip to Morocco was really heartwarming as I discovered so many enchanting destinations and marveling sights. The car helped me a lot as I used it every day to get to different places without having to pay each time I go. Thank God I did not proceed with public transportation as it would have been a pain in the ass. My overall experience with OneClickDrive platform was top notch and I definitely would recommend them to any traveler coming to Morocco.
