Henri II de Bourbon, Prince of Condé was the head of the senior-most cadet branch of the House of Bourbon for nearly all his life, and heir presumptive to the King of France from the age of 2 until he was 12. Henri was the father of Louis, le Grand Condé, the celebrated French general.

Joseph von Quarin was an Austrian physician born in Vienna. At the age of 15, he obtained his PhD in Vienna, followed by studies of medicine at the University of Freiburg. In 1751 he received his medical doctorate, afterwards returning to Vienna, where in 1754 he attained the title of professor.

In 1775 he was appointed as the first professor of the theological faculty in Wittenberg. He thus became senior pastor at the Wittenberg town church , general superintendent of the Saxon electoral district and assessor at the Wittenberg consistory .
