This is a synthetic collection consisting of manuscripts, typescripts, correspondence, and legal documents. The collection includes articles and essays in holograph and typescript, many of which were published in various journals including "Isis" and "Osiris." It includes correspondence, dating from 1906 to 1956, from the author to Marie Closset, Vladimir Nabokov, Muriel Rukeyser, his wife Eleanor Mabel Sarton, his daughter May Sarton, and others. There are letters to George Sarton from Marie Closset, James Bryant Conant, Walter Dumaux Edmunds, Vladimir Nabokov, Eleanor Sarton, May Sarton, and Albert Tiberghien, dating from 1905 to 1956.
