This is a synthetic collection consisting of manuscripts and typescripts, correspondence, a notebook from 1923, financial documents, pictorial works, and portraits of the author. The manuscripts and typescripts include holograph and typescript poems, drafts of poems, and an essay. Also present are essays, poems, and fiction in typescript and manuscript by W. H. Auden, Kenneth Burke, Muriel Rukeyser, Glenway Wescott and others relating to the author. The collection includes correspondence by the author, from 1921 to 1971, to Kenneth Burke, Babette Deutsch, John Edmunds, Jean Garrigue, Howard Griffin, Randall Jarrell, Elizabeth Mayer, James Merrill, Howard Moss, May Sarton, Laurence Scott, Frances Steloff, James Sibley Watson, Jr., Glenway Westcott, Monroe Wheeler, and others. There are letters relating to the author, dating from 1945 to 1970, between various correspondents including Randall Jarrell, Frances Steloff, and others, as well as letters to the author from Herbert Mitgang. There are letters to Moore from W. H. Auden, Charles Baldwin, Gladys Edgerton, Robert Lowell, Herbert Mitgang, Howard Moss, David Posner, Louis Untermeyer, Monroe Wheeler, and others, dating from 1926 to 1975.
