Welcome!

My name is SA Blumenschein, and this website chronicles my journey towards publication.

The mission is simple: to write a novel and achieve mainstream publication. But it’s not easy or quickly achieved. I invite you all to embark on this journey with me.

Part One: Writing

The first part is writing. Can’t publish without a novel! I’ve set a goal of writing for one hour or 1,000 words per day, every day.

As I write, I plan to also blog on this website about the trials and – as the website name indicates – realities of being an aspiring novelist. I welcome participation from readers. Send me questions, comment on posts, and follow my work. I hope to post your Q&As and start some interesting discussions, whether about writing in general or my work specifically.

Please don’t be shy; the more the merrier!

Part Two: Online Publication

As I write, I’ll be publishing updates to the website Authonomy. Why? First, I find it very motivating to have readers waiting for more. Second, Authonomy could potentially lead to mainstream publication.

Part two has been abandoned because of my disappointment with Authonomy.

Part Three: Mainstream Publication

After I finish editing, I’ll begin the quest for an agent. This is a long, dice roll process of querying agents. I hope to be at this phase by February 2014.
