HUNTSVILLE, Alabama - Police said the bullet fragment recovered in Thursday's shooting of the Davidson Center for Space Exploration is possibly a 308-caliber bullet, spokesman Harry Hobbs said in a news release this afternoon.

Hobbs said police are continuing to interview witnesses of the incident in which three shots were fired through the windows of the Davidson Center at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center.

Two of the bullets struck the Saturn V rocket inside the building. The bullets dented the rocket, scraping off the outer layer of paint.

Police think the shooter fired the shots from a high-powered rifle from a passing vehicle on Interstate 565.
