Information World Review: Online tools, blogs and wikis
Information World includes a review of Radio UserLand and Manila:
"The UserLand portfolio actually comprises two products-- Manila and Radio UserLand. Both are easy to use, yet neither sacrifice advanced features for this worthy cause.
Perhaps best known for the Radio UserLand desktop tool, and suitable for personal and business use alike, is the server-based Manila product used by academic institutions and government agencies. Its popularity is due in no small part to its scalability, multiple authoring support and advanced automatic archival and indexing features, coupled with the ability to establish editors and departments for collaborative applications in a wiki-like fashion."
Sample Macro: memberMessage
You can use the following macro on your Manila server to return a custom string depending on whether a user is logged in or not.
Save the following file to your system:
http://static8.userland.com/rack1/gems/blog/workspace.memberMessage.ftsc
Choose File->Open from the Frontier application window and select the downloaded file to import it.
You can customize the text when a user is logged in or out and then click the Compile button.
Then make the macro legal through the Legal Macros settings page.
And just insert the following into your template or message to test it out:
{workspace.memberMessage ()}

Manila 9.6 beta: Manila static rendering bug fixes
We've released several changes to fix some bugs in Manila's static rendering feature.
- The rendering of navigator links for static pages has been updated to match the behaviour when viewing the navigator links on a dynamic page (no automatic insertion of a line break for items with long names and CSS class for links).
- Fixed a bug that incorrectly inserted the file extension when a link included an anchor.
- Manila sites using news items will no longer return a #hierarchy not found error in certain situations.
Update manila.root to receive the updates.
