My buddy Bill ust sent me the first ever interview with Louis Ozawa Changchien, one of the many stars of 20th Century Fox’s Predators that arrives in theaters July 9, 2010. Beyond the break you’ll find some of the highlights of the massive interview that reveal some major plot points including details on Laurence Fishburne’s character. The new incarnation is directed by Nimrod Antal (Vacancy).
Louis Ozawa Changchien chatted with Gigazine where he talked a bit about shooting on Robert Rodriguez’s Troublemaker Studios set, among other juicy morsels of info.

“_The studio’s located at the former site of an airport, and it is also where Sin City was shot,_” he tells Gigazine. “_They propped up 40 or so stowages and filled the place with real rocks and stones and trees to build a jungle set full of real plants, the most elaborate set I’ve seen in my career. Of course it must be expensive, but it really did look like a Hawaiian jungle. That was the “Hunting Camp” where most of the story takes place._”

It was revealed last week that Laurence Fishburne would be joining the massive cast including Topher Grace, Adrien Brody, Walton Goggins, Alice Braga, Danny Trejo, Walt Goggins, Oleg Taktarov, Mahershalalhashbaz Ali, Louiz Ozawa and Derek Mears. This is the first time anything has been revealed about his character.

“_He must have seen the aforementioned jungle set, and there are also indoor set of the residence of Fishburne’s character, so I guess he’s seen it too,_” says Changchien. “_His character managed to survive 10 years on the alien’s planet living in a cave…He’s definitely a good fighter but also good at escaping._”

Another piece of information that it kinda obvious from the synopsis is that the Predators have been abducting humans. Changchien talks a bit about his charcter and why they’re abducted.

“_He’s basically a mean yakuza,_” Changchien says of his character. “_A yakuza abducted by the Predators._” He continues, “_He’s not the boss in the yakuza family but obviously not a no-one. He’s probably a right-hand man sort of guy, very much feared and very skilled. Excellent gun man and also competent with a sword._”

His fighting skill attracted the attention of Predators…

“_I guess so. That part is not explained in the movie, everyone is suddenly abducted and dropped on the Hunting Camp, so they’re not aware of where they are or why they were dropped there. They all gradually become aware of the situation and surroundings._”

In-demand actor David Dastmalchian (Late Night with the Devil) will star in the upcoming sci-fi horror movie The Cure alongside Ashley Greene (Twilight) and newcomer Samantha Cochran, Deadline reports today.

The Cure is directed by Nancy Leopardi and written by Jonathan Bernstein and James Greer (Unsane).

The horror movie follows “Cochran’s Ally Braun, an adopted 16-year-old with a mysterious illness who learns her bio-tech billionaire parents (Dastmalchian and Greene) are harvesting her blood for nefarious purposes.”

Leopardi called the film “a satirical take on the modern billionaire class cloaked in a crowd-pleasing thriller,” telling Deadline, “The Cure is made in the tradition of classic horror and sci-fi films that are inspired by terrifying socio-political realities and advances in bio-technology. Like Ex-Machina, A.I., and Videodrome I believe we are on the cusp of a revolution in science and the big question is – who will benefit?”

Sydney Taylor (American Born Chinese), Tyler Lawrence Gray (Wolfpack), and Dylan Flashner (Running on Empty) also star.

David Dastmalchian recently starred in this year’s indie hit Late Night with the Devil, The Boogeyman, The Last Voyage of the Demeter, and The Life of Chuck.

The Cure is produced by John Ierardi and Bo Youngblood of Showdown Productions and Indy Entertainment, along with Natalie Marciano and Rock Jacobs of Rebel Entertainment.

Production has wrapped on The Cure, so stay tuned.
