I get one test failure on Mac OS 10.2.6: test test_pwd failed -- Traceback (most recent call last): File "/Temporary Items/Python-2.3c2/Lib/test/test_pwd.py", line 42, in test_values self.assert_(pwd.getpwuid(e.pw_uid) in entriesbyuid[e.pw_uid]) KeyError: 'getpwuid(): uid not found' The passwd entry on which it fails looks perfectly normal, AFAICS. We've got about 3500 entries in our passwd file, if that's of interest.

Logged In: YES user_id=44345 Is the password entry on which it fails a duplicate uid? I recall some problems when there were two user names with the same uid.

Logged In: YES user_id=12800 This may also be a duplicate of bug # 775964, if you've got a + on a line in your /etc/passwd file (similar to the + in the /etc/group file discussed in that bug report). The + is a NIS/YP thing.
