Who: Lex Luthor and Karen Starr
What: Just talking. I swear.
Where: Arkham Asylum, because all the cool kids are there
If she was being entirely honest with herself, Karen Starr had no business at Arkham Asylum, or even in Gotham. If asked, she would chirp that she was going to interview Lex Luthor for a special interest piece in The Daily Planet, but that has as much truth to it as anything else she said about herself.
But she wasn’t here strictly for revenge, either. Some time had passed since the traumatic events with Tony in Bangkok, when she saw a man’s head implode and held a dying girl as she pushed the energy of Hiroshima into that strong alien body. She and Tony weren’t having nightmares as much anymore, and Tony had begun actually speaking before his third cup of coffee. Of course, the instant Kara had gotten her strength back, she had been raring to go take off after Luthor and put a fist through his frontal lobe, but Tony managed to stop her, to talk her down.
So she waited, and kept her day job, and sometimes even did her night one. And sometimes she saw Superman, but seeing him after everything was hard, so she flew on the nights he stayed in, or took to other cities.
But one day she just stopped. Stopped in the street, dropped her latté, and stared, because a girl who was the spitting image of May Ori was looking at her.
The next day, she leaving Joan Leland's office, having gotten past the protestations that "I've never had a patient die on my watch, and won't start now," and convinced her to let Karen see Lex Luthor.
"I promise, I'll be on my best behavior," Kara assured her from the hallway.
"I hope so, because I'll charge you for any damages," Leland replied with a raised eyebrow. Karen smiled gratefully at her anyway, and in a mere few minutes she was entering Lex's cell, the door closing behind her.
She smiled grimly at him, eyes flickering over the orange uniform. "Hello, Luthor."

Who: Two-Face and Joan Leland
What: An unexpected offer
Where: The streets of Gotham
Two-Face watched from around the corner of a dark alley as Batwoman fought not one, but two armed assailants. As far as he could tell they were just ordinary muggers, but Leland was still struggling somewhat to fend them off, outnumbered as she was. Two-Face waited until just the right moment to intervene, launching himself at the punk who had been raising a knife behind Leland's back.
"Need a hand?" he called to her from the ground as he straddled the mugger and twisted the man's wrist painfully until he dropped the knife, leaning forward to headbutt him viciously.

Who: Bruce Wayne, Two-Face, Harvey Dent
What: A very special occasion
Where: The Four Seasons, Seattle, Washington
When: November 5th
Two-Face pressed a gentle kiss to Bruce's forehead before collapsing next to him on the firm hotel mattress. He was still panting somewhat heavily, bare chest and neck glazed with a light sheen of sweat. Next to him, Bruce made a small, satisfied noise and Two-Face nodded his agreement, shifting slightly closer to the brunette. He let his hand slide into Bruce's and laced their fingers together, brushing his thumb over the back of Bruce's hand softly. As he understood it, this little trip to the west coast was intended to commemorate Bruce and Harvey's sixth month anniversary, an event which Two-Face regarded with a fair amount of indifference. But it had been Bruce's idea, and Two-Face certainly didn't want to ruin the occasion for him by being cynical or distant.
"Happy anniversary, sweetheart," he mocked gently.

Who: Jon Crane, Joan Leland
What: Making the change
Where: Arkham Asylum
Despite his resolve, his determination to do the right thing, Jon was practically crawling in his skin. His left hand nearly balled into a fist with tension as his fingers worried the scrap of burlap, a security blanket less conspicuous than the mask, and he nearly turned tail even with his hand on the front door of Arkham. Every step he took closer to the looming place tolled louder than a church bell, confident strides threatening to devolve to restless pacing in small spaces, futile fleeing into a tiny room, muffled echoes of the free in an invisible hallway.
Jon swallowed the lump in his throat, calmed his nerves with the knowledge that one day, he could be as whole and truly free as Harvey was becoming now. Crane had just been one man. Right? No, but he was the world, too, but there were other people- there was Doctor Leland. Yes, there was Joan. She got through to Harvey, brought him back, so maybe she could work a miracle and make Jon into a real person worth something.
A twist of his wrist, a push forward, and he was walking inside. Into the all-too-clinical lobby, where his gaze flitted erratically all over the room, taking in horribly familiar details, before finding Joan herself, arms crossed. She looked for all the world like a stern mother waiting for her errant teenager to stumble home drunk at three in the morning with fewer clothes on than when he left.
He ignored the puzzled glances he was drawing from people who remembered Crane or recognized their face from the news, and walked straight up to Leland. Despite the calm that he was holding onto tightly, distress just at being there was evident on his face.
"J- Doctor Leland..." Deep breath. "I'd like to be committed."

Who: Harvey Dent, Jon Crane
What: An unexpected meeting
Where: Arkham Asylum grounds
Harvey paused on the threshold of Arkham Asylum, a disbelieving smile lighting his features. No matter what kind of ridiculous, dangerous, near-suicidal situation he managed to get himself into, Lex always seemed to bounce right back. Harvey secretly suspected the reappearance of a certain crimson-caped superhero might have had a thing or two to do with his friend's new-found sanity.
That's certainly a relief, Harvey thought to himself. He had been very concerned for is friend; the matter of Lex's recovery in the hell-hole that was Arkham had been weighing heavily on his mind for some weeks now. He had been pleased to note during his visit that Lex was clear-eyed and coherent, and visibly pleased to see Harvey.
He's in good hands, Harvey smiled to himself. The best. He continued down the steps leading away from the asylum, head lowered as he pulled his leather gloves on and buttoned his navy pea coat. He caught sight of someone only a few feet away out of the corners of his vision and stopped in his tracks, barely avoiding a collision.
"I'm sorry, I wasn't looking where I was— Oh."
Harvey leveled a wide-eyed gaze at the familiar figure before him, tightening his glove on one hand somewhat nervously.
"Jon. Hi."

Who: Lex Luthor, Superman/Clark Kent
What: Amends
Where: Arkham Asylum
"I wouldn't normally allow this," Dr. Leland said, leaning on the bars of Arkham's gate and scanning the sky, "but, well, he's Superman."
"Yes, he is," Lex said, resting his forehead against the cool metal of one of the bars.
"Do you know how he managed to get back?" Leland asked, turning her attention to Lex. He closed his eyes and shook his head. He hated hospitals, and especially mental institutions. The doctors were always watching, and it didn't do much to help his paranoia. You're here to get better, he told himself. And Harvey trusts Leland.
"I'm sure he'll tell me if I ask," Lex said, glancing upwards.
"Are you sure you're ready for this?"
Lex shrugged. "Ready as I'll ever be. And it'll be good to see him again."
Leland looked like she was about to add something, her expression inscrutable, but instead she pointed to a distant blue dot in the sky. "There he is."

Who: Iron Man, Power Girl
What: H/C
Where: Tony Stark's Malibu residence, CA
It'd been hours and her burns were looking pinker, smoother. He watched her eyes flicking underneath pale and veined eyelids, REM sleep in full swing, her limbs tucked against her sides in modest comfort on the thick sheets of a bed, strands of hair a web behind her relaxed neck and head.
Upon landing, Tony had called Pepper and had her cook up a makeshift decontamination chamber within his lab to divest them both of any residual radiation, to help him unlash the unconscious woman from his back and take her to a a guest room, strip her of her outfit. It felt like hours before Jarvis had gotten him out of the suit. Hours more to heave himself to the elevator, to the room she was in, dressed in a pair of Pepper's cute pajamas. He hadn't bothered cleaning her wounds -- they'd be healed soon enough, even slowly -- but Pepper had brought him a cold cloth and bowl of water nonetheless, which was beside the guest bed Power Girl's limp body was resting on. The cloth was across her forehead, eating up residual heat, trailing cold drops of water down the line of her cheek, soaking into the pillows.
Tony pressed a knuckle into the bridge of his nose, elbows on his knees on a chair next to the bed. He hadn't -- didn't want to think. He'd tried a few things to distract himself; the latest prep for Stark-sponsored education plans, repulsor reconfig, even Wayne and Luthor and the next SI business meetings. But every thought ended in half-dead, half-there brains, blood-caked skin, and a dying girl in the arms of a sick woman.
"Dodo, l’enfant do, l’enfant dormira bien vite, dodo, l’enfant do, l’enfant dormira bientôt." Hm. He chuckled wearily. What was he doing? -- murmuring old, familiar lines, off-pitch but friendly. A lullaby, something to focus on, a distraction, probably. Coping shit. Something sad and pathetic like that.
Something for Elle -- no, not Elle anymore. But yeah, something for her, too.

Who: Harvey Dent, Lex Luthor, The Joker, and Batman
What: A friend in need.
Where: Lex's penthouse.
"Come on, come on!" Harvey jabbed the elevator button angrily with his thumb, watching in exasperation as the numbers lit up one by one on the door frame (but far too slowly for his liking). The very second the doors flew open Harvey stepped inside, hitting the button for the top floor and the one to close the doors in rapid succession. Slowly the elevator crawled up towards the top of the building, until finally Harvey was released just outside the handsome oak door to Lex's penthouse apartment. He rang the doorbell, fully prepared to seek another means of entry if Lex was too injured to make it to the entryway. After a few moments during which he could hear muffled movement from the other side, the door flew open and Harvey was faced with a rather battered-looking Lex.
"Hey," he greeted softly, stepping a little closer and extending a hand to cup Lex's shoulder in a gesture of support.
"Are you ready to go?"

Who: Iron Man and Power Girl
What: A confrontation
Where: Patpong, Bangkok's red light district
The distant music pressed harshly against her senses, a Korean dance number too muffled for human ears to pick up in this dirty street. Because of this, Power Girl did not bother remarking on it to her companion. She and Iron Man were too tired for that sort of thing, anyway- Kara mentally, Tony presumably physically. Now wasn't the time to ask.
After Helena ditched, Tony had graciously joined Kara's pet detective mission, her project to uncover the real purpose of the Asia Project. Her hunt brought her to a list of names in a Chinese research laboratory, human lab rats in the new science of stripping metahuman powers. It seemed straightforward enough, but these particular people were being used for something, and Kara wanted to know what. She followed tips and leads around Asia until she was sure of one of them, and then she had called Tony.
Here, in Bangkok, she was sure they had finally found someone- some answer, a clue to what was really happening. They remained crouched on a roof opposite "Boys Over Bangkok", following Jarvis' measure of spiking radiation in the immediate area.
Her eyes idly resting on a sweaty middle-aged man emerging from the sleazy club, she once again asked, "Are you sure she's here?"
