{MOD - Jopok Affiliation} (original) (raw)
Please keep in mind: You may only interact and do business with members of your own gang and gangs that are affiliated with your main branch. To do otherwise would only wind up being disastrous for your muse and would also more or less negate the purpose of separating into different groups.
You may, however, do business with the mafia groups outside Korea.
The Jopok was established in Gwangju near Pusan, South Korea to be the protectors of the people against other organized crime groups. However, in the 1960's the South Korean government cracked down on organized crime in the country, even going so far as to establish bootcamps for Jopok members who were arrested and a special division of the police force assigned specifically to combat the Jopok and other organized crime syndicates (such as the Russian mafia which has operations in parts of South Korea). It is for this reason that Jopok groups are small and tightly knit and extremely hard to find.
Jopok headquarters remains in Gwangju to this day, though they have groups all throughout the country.
The Jopok deal in drugs, loansharking, prostitution, gambling, and weapons smuggling.
They own nightclubs, restaurants, and bars as fronts for much of their business dealings. Most prostitution and gambling run by the Jopok take place in the back rooms of such businesses.
Clan names are hard to find because of the necessity of secrecy by the Jopok groups. However, we do know the names of 3 actual Jopok groups. For the purposes of the RP, I am including 3 more fictional groups based off of the former names of the Jopok including a fictional Jopok group created by a community member.
When you choose your branch, you must choose to be Chaebol (boss), Sungsenim (second-in-command), Hyungnim (honored big brother), Jongsa (warrior), or other.
Chaebol is in charge of all the bosses in all the branches. There can only be ONE Chaebol. Once that position has been claimed, no one else may apply for it.
Sungsenim is much like a senior advisor to the Chaebol (similar to the saizo komon in the Yakuza). They are another kind of boss or elder that is looked up to and obeyed. Consider them something of a second-in-command to the Chaebol. As with the Chaebol, there can only be ONE Sungsenim. Once that position has been claimed, no one else may apply for it.
Hyungnim are the bosses of a specific group of Jopok (similar to kumicho of a Yakuza group). They are in charge of their branch, but still answer to the Chaebol of Jopok. Members of their group that are close to them usually refer to them as Hyung (big brother). There can only be ONE Hyungnim for each Jopok group.
Jongsa is the warrior of each Jopok group. They are the person that is deemed the most worthy and honored fighter. There may only be ONE Jongsa in each Jopok group.
OTHER: Each Hyungnim has a bodyguard, a driver, and their right hand man.
Each Jopok group also has gangsters, street fighters, informants, killers, etc. Please keep this in mind.
In light of the special police force assigned to Jopok, you may also claim a law enforcement official.
RED - Existing real-life groups
BLUE - Fictional groups based off real-life
