Welcome to the Going Places Challenge at dareyouto_write!
The Challenge: Going Places
Despite the many twists and turns of their high school careers, it's clear that the new graduates of Tree Hill High School are going places. But how will they get there? That's all up to you in our next challenge.
For this challenge, the one required element is that your fic must include something related to transportation. Perhaps Brooke opts for a day out on her father's boat. Or Luke takes a journey in the car Keith left him. Karen may decide to wing her way overseas to see Andy. Someone could buy new wheels from Dan Scott Motors. Haley and Nathan could catch up with her RV loving parents. Or the whole gang may decide to take another road trip. The possibilities are endless - what places will your muse take you? We can't wait to read, so happy writing!
The Rules and Regulations:
- This challenge runs from August 15th to September 15th. To be considered for voting, fics are due by 11:59 PM PST on September 15th.
- Please post the name of the title, your name, and the rating of your fic in the subject line of your post.
- Submissions must be at least 800 words, but there is no length limit. Ramble on, my friends, ramble on!
- Behind an LJ-cut, please place the following:
• Title
• Author
• Rating (All ratings are allowed, but must be clearly posted!)
• Word Count
• Pairing or Character
• Spoilers (IE through 4x22)
• Summary
• Warnings, if applicable (IE, character death, sensitive subject matters, etc) - Please, to the post tags, add your username, story name, and pairings/characters. This will help us create a spiffy memory section so we can always go back to the excellent stories you'll post!
- Have fun!
Challenge Awards:
Once each challenge closes, your pretty, pretty neighborhood moderators will post a poll to vote on various fics. There will be various categories, and each fic submitted for the challenge will be an option for each category. We encourage everyone, participants and readers alike, to vote, vote, vote, or as the t-shirt says, die. It's a fun way to recognize our peers for the effort and imagination it takes to put into a story.
There will also be a few awards given by outside judges. The judges will each hand out a judge's choice award to the fic that they think best exemplifies the qualities and characteristics of a good OTH fic. And speaking of judges . . . we need some volunteers for this round! If you aren't going to be able to participate this round as a writer, but would like to join in as a judge - drop us a line
That's about everything you need to know. For more information on rules and such, please check out dareyouto_write. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, don't hesitate to contact any of the moderators: thisholymess, unwindingdreams, ladyanne04, or autumnleaves23.
And feel free to snag a banner and spread the word - we'd love to have lots of shiny, shiny fics!

Thank you to everyone who participated in The Coda Challenge! Even though we didn't have enough entries to create a poll, we still decided to give out two awards this time around. The Moderators and Judges were all very impressed with the entries! Congratulations to our two winners!
Make sure to look out for our upcoming challenge! We are currently finalizing on a couple of details and then we'll have it posted for all of you to read! Take care and have a nice weekend!
Mood: excited
The Coda Challenge is now officially closed.
Thank you to the writers who submitted entries! We hope you enjoyed writing for this challenge!
The next challenge will be posted hopefully by the end of the week!
Title: The Way Our Cards Are Dealt
Author: Brit
Rating: Teen for mild swearing
Disclaimer: Nope, I don't own a thing. Just tinkering around with my favorite characters of One Tree Hill.
The first sentence of this story and the last two are also inspired by the narration from the pilot episode of Everwood, which are given credit to Greg Berlanti.
Word Count: 4,687
Characters: Lucas, Haley, Nathan
Spoilers: If you've seen the first couple of episodes of season one, then you're good to go.
Summary: Nathan Scott has always had the upper hand in life. Of course, there's one person whose willing to change all that, Haley James.
Author's Note: I was inspired by one song in particular while writing this piece, which was "Rewind" by Stereophonics. The song begins with the words, "It's your time / It's your day / It's never too late / To change lanes." Reading these lyrics a few times helped me come up with this different take on Nathan and Haley's first tutoring session. I hope you enjoy reading it!

Title: Guernica
Author: Mariah (dollhouses/messageforyou)
Rating: G
Word Count: 1,289
Character: Nathan, Brooke
Spoilers: Not really any. But to be safe, as long as you've seen past season 3, you'll be okay.
Summary: Nathan gets help from an unlikely friend in his time of need.
Author's Note: I just realized the deadline was PST not EST, which even so I'm still late, but I figured there was no hurt in posting it any way. This was kind of a spur of the moment piece. I haven't written anything in a long time so be kind. And it's kind of rushed, but I like what came out of it. Also, please excuse any mistakes as this is unbeta-ed. And in case you were wondering, Guernica is both a painting and a title of a song that both represent a battle.
Oh yeah, while I was writing this I had "Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You" on repeat. :)
Would You Be Interested In Having An Extension?
Yes an extension would be great. Am almost done and I just need a little time.
I would like an extension but am not sure if I will get it done either way.
I dont need an extension. I will be posting it right on time.
Please Write Below How Long You would Like the Extension To Be.
Title: Promises to Keep
Author: Hana (thedreamygirl)
Rating: Teen
Word Count: 1,194 words
Pairing: Nathan/Haley
Spoilers: Up to most of 3x03 “First Day On A Brand New Planet”, except the final hallway scene.
Summary: After their talk near the end of episode 3x03, Haley thinks about her relationship with Nathan.
Author’s Note: The coda song I chose was “Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You” by Led Zeppelin. I’d only listened to a few on the list when I came to it and this idea sort of popped out at me. Also, just a few warnings: this story is angsty, probably confusing and, since I finished it so late, unebta’d so you’ll have to bear with me.
( There is a story hereCollapse )
Hello my dear Readers.
This is an open request for judges. The only stipulation is that you wont be able to participate in this Challenge so am sorry you wont be able to enter a story.
If you are more than sure that you wont be submitting a story but still want to be a part of it then what better way than as a judge.
What does a judge do you ask? Well you have to read all of the stories and hand out a judge’s choice award to the fic that they think best exemplifies the qualities and characteristics of a good OTH fic at the same time following the guidelines of the challenge.
Are you up to that!? If you are please post below, comments will be screened because we will only be able to have so many judges.
Thanks so much!
