Isabella pulled her cloak a little closer around her as she waited in the castle courtyard. The morning was sunny, but cool, with the definite bite of autumn. She added gloves to her mental list of things she wanted to acquire during the fair; it was growing longer by the hour. She was glad to be going with Lady Marian today, both for the company and to have another woman's opinion about things--Isabella might be new to Nottingham, but she didn't need to look like it.

She was also, perversely, a little nervous. Isabella hadn't had much chance to develop other female acquaintances; certainly there was no one of her rank she could call a friend. She liked Marian so far and hoped that, regardless of--or perhaps despite--her relations, she had made a good impression. Best not to put too much on that; the woman could be intolerable or a bore on her own. If nothing else, it would be a fabulous opportunity to learn more about her prospective sister-in-law. Isabella had already begun the process; after the drama of the council meeting, she had questioned one of the servants until she found out that Sir Edward the Ex-Sheriff in the Dungeon was none other than Marian's father, and the woman had no other family to speak of. Isabella hardly knew what to make of it; none of the pieces seemed to fit together. Nottingham was getting curiouser, and more complicated, by the day.

Isabella crossed her arms, tucking her hands in close to her body. She wasn't sure if they would walk or ride, but she was eager for either, as it would warm her up. She glanced up the stairs, towards the castle entrance and the portico, for any sign of Lady Marian.
