One thing I was thinking during one of the comparing-English-things-to-American-things scenes was that it might be quite a different exercise now than in the 40s. I think there might be a larger discrepancy on some things, but on most things there would probably be less difference, because of the internet/other telecommunications and the globalization of culture.

Agreed, there's really not much difference between England and America these days. Back then, on the other hand, America was much more progressive.
