rules and posting guidelines! (original) (raw)
So. You're presumably read the Intro Post, and you've joined this comm, and you're also (I hope) someone in HP, and not like, a complete stranger lurking about on the Internet.
Before you post, however, please note the following:
1. As of now, humanised is public. Please don't lock your entries!
2. Please use appropriate subject headings and tags for your posts, and LJ-cuts if your posts are long. Use your own discretion; people don't appreciate their flists being jammed by long entries.
Your headings should look like this: [_category_] summary of your post.
Categories (and these are your tags, as well) are: article, video, discussion, admin, misc. New categories would be added if necessary. Your categories depend on the origin of your post: if it's a discussion spurred by an article you're linking in the post, then it belongs to the category, [_article_]. On the other hand, if you're just asking a question, and linking articles as examples, it's [_discussion_]. Admin is for ... admin things like deadline reminders and reiteration of things announced in the y!gs. Misc is for off-topic posts, like music everyone should absolutely listen to.
Tags would follow your category, so: [article] ... would yield a !article tag. If you're not sure what to tag your post, or you need a new category/tag, tag your post ! new tag.
This is to organize things and make them easier to find.
3. No disabling of comments and no deletion of comments or posts, even if you're the original poster.
4. Don't spam the community. Keep posts of general interest, and when they are off-topic posts, post things around which discussion can be generated, not like look at the twenty cat photos I'm uploading to this post! or when I woke up this morning, I had a headache so I went back to bed. These belong to your personal LJ. If you're linking to music or movies, make sure it's something relatively not-known, something that you want to share with us because most of us won't encounter it otherwise (i.e., K-pop is out, as is most pop music in general.)
5. No wank! No wank! No wank! Douchebaggery is not tolerated here. It goes without saying, but it bears mentioning. You can be banned from this comm.
6. If you're commenting anonymously, please leave your name at the bottom. (This defeats the purpose of commenting anonymously, I know, but the anonymous function is just an allowance if you don't want to get an LJ account. You do need to be accountable - ha! ha! - for your own thoughts.)
Please direct all questions to the intro post (:
