The two central acknowledged roles in nature are predator and prey. It's a useful classification, and any species that values long term survival will quickly ascertain which role it belongs in at any given time.

The roles aren't immutable, however, as no predator should forget.

There's the gleam of a predator in Hisoka's eyes, young and untrained. Muraki is the one who put it there, so he feels the weight of responsibility.

He crushes Tsubaki-hime's wings, leaves her as a suitable gift for the child testing his claws.

He eagerly awaits the day Hisoka is ready to pursue larger prey.
