031. Ten Scars
1. Right elbow - from getting a bit too enthusiastic playing cops and robbers as a kid.
2. Left upper arm - from shrapnel during the Earth-Minbari War.
3. Lower left thigh - more of the same.
4. Back of right hand - gotta figure it was broken glass from a bar fight, or something like that.
5. Right lower back - got knifed while trying to break up a fight on Orion 7. Lucky for me the guy totally missed my kidney.
6. PPG burn on right shoulder - just a graze. Got winged in a little scuffle Downbelow.
7. Under the left shoulder blade - hell if I know!
8. PPG burn in the middle of my back - shot point blank by that fraggin' weasel who used to be my aide. Seems I'm too damned stubborn to die.
9. Weird little knot of scar tissue at the back of my neck. Yes, there are odd little black bits in it. No, I'm not saying how I got it.
10. A hole where half my soul was ripped out - nobody said they all had to be physical scars, right?

1. Dad getting sick after the Dilgar War...
2. Frank's shuttle going up in a ball of fire on the landing pad on Europa
3. The look on Lianna's face when I had to bring them the news
4. The 'bugs in my brain' feeling when we saw the Shadow ships on Mars
5. Waking up in a pool of my own vomit in a back alley on Mars, with absolutely no fragging idea how I got there, what day it was, or why my body ached in the ways it did
6. Waking up from a coma to find out my own aide betrayed us and shot me in the back, I failed to save the President from being assassinated, and Jeff was no longer in charge of B5
7. Getting back to B5 after being badly freaked out by what I saw in Sector 14, only to find out Jeff had been there, was gone forever, and only left me a message to say goodbye.
8. My capture by the Shadows. No, you're not getting details on that one.
9. Everything I did to my friends and colleagues while I was Bester's puppet, and the way I felt when the little bastard finally let me go
10. Finding out how badly I failed everyone when I got drunk. Again.

075 - Ten things you should talk to a therapist about...
1. I dropped everything at home in Jersey to follow my ex and my daughter out to Hawaii, all for my little girl. But that's not the part that's really a problem. I love my little monkey and I'd go to the ends of the earth for her. The problem is I don't think I ever really let Rachel go, and there are times I really think she's using me. But I just don't know, y'know? And that makes me overthink it until I'm all tied in knots. So yeah, I should probably talk to someone about it.
And not do something stupid like sleep with her while she's still married to another guy!
2. My brother. My brother the idiot, who got himself into some deep shit and instead of stopping him (Yeah, it would've led to locking him up, but... shit. It'd be for his own good...) I let him get away. I'm a cop, and I let him get away.
3. That whole 'slippery slope' thing. There've been some bad things we had to do for all of the best reasons, but they're against the law, and we're cops. Not just the thing with Matty -- there's been at least one other thing -- and I'm worried it's really gonna bite us on the ass... But none of it was done for personal gain -- it was all for the sake of others -- of good people. Problem is, they don't really make that distinction when it comes to the law.
4. My partner, the crazy man. Yeah, you think I'm joking, don't you? No, I'm serious, he's insane. I mean, I love him to pieces, but I dunno. Maybe he went feral while he was in the SEALs -- kinda forgot how normal humans do stuff. But come on -- he stashed a hand grenade in the glove compartment. Of my car! A live hand grenade. I mean, who does that?
Oh, and he used it, too. In the course of an investigation, but still. A hand grenade!
5. And what's with the car thing, anyway? Most of the time he's jumping behind the wheel of my car. If he likes it so much, why doesn't he sell that truck of his and buy one himself?
6. And he's always running around like he's the Terminator or something, like he can't get hurt. I'm almost starting to understand -- really understand -- what Rachel meant by being worried sick about what could happen to me on the job.
7. It sounds really paranoid, but there's something going on that we've been stumbling around the edges of for the past year. I thought at first I was just imagining it, and then that it was just my partner's -- whatever it is -- with his dad and Hesse and Wo Fat and all. But now we know his dad might have been involved somehow... I know, it sounds like one of those wacked-out conspiracy theories, but there's something big going on here. I'm not imagining it.
8. Oh yeah -- that partner of mine got me shot on our first date.
9. DATE? I didn't say date! Job -- it was a job. Going after a witness. It was a job.
10. Um... yeah. I kinda do think about my partner a lot...

1. Starting with the small stuff, how about how my mom took me to Magnus every two years to essential mind-wipe me from seeing the Shadow World? That I wish wasn't true.
2. Valentine being my dad. Every time I think about it, it makes me sick. How could I have come from that?
3. That whole bunch of time that I thought Jace was my brother. It was torture and awful for both of us.
4.
I kissed my actual biological brother.
My biological brother was a failed experiment. Sometimes, I think about what he could have been like, but that's not a world I ever get to live in. All he does now is spread pain, even though he's dead.
5. Simon being a vampire. I wish that he didn't have to deal with all the stuff he has to deal with now, especially the mark that I put on him. Even though it's saved his life, there's a weight on him and my best friend was changed forever.
6. My mom doesn't like Jace all that much.
7. Being an experiment. I don't like feeling used.
8. I watched Jace die.
9. Jace wasn't the same when he came back and part of that was because of me. My fault. Mea culpa.
10. I've got a horrible feeling in my gut that this all is just the beginning of truths I wish were lies.

1. She has this nervous habit of tucking her hair behind her ear when she's nervous. She bites her lip in that way where she has no idea she's doing it and most of the time it's too hard.
2. She has no concept of how beautiful she is, one of those people who looks in the mirror and sees someone ordinary. She has no idea that she's beautiful, that she makes boys shake, that she fills their dreams. She has no idea that everyday she's even more beautiful and amazing than the day before.
3. She's strong and self-righteous and it's so fucking adorable on her I can't breathe.
4. She's stubborn. In a way that is so incredibly infuriating you want to scream at her for even considering being that stubborn. Her eyes get this look, determination. Even when she's wrong - utterly and completely wrong and can't think beyond her own selfish ideas? She sticks to what she believes in.
5. She will always do what she thinks is right. Always. It doesn't matter if she puts herself in danger, it doesn't matter if it's possibly the stupidest thing she's ever done; if she believes in it? ... She just ... has conviction.
6. She doesn't think things through; she goes with her gut and doesn't think about the consequences. I hate it about her - but ... somehow, it's part of why I love her too.

272. TEN snapshots that mean something to you. Describe the scene.
1. There are two girls. One blonde, one brunette. One tall, one short. One older, one younger. One crying, one dry-eyed. They don't really look alike, but they're sisters. You can tell because the brunette is leaning against the blonde, blocking out the world and the blonde has her arm around the younger girl, like if she just holds on a little tighter - she can protect the girl from anything. She should be able to protect the girl from anything. It's who she is, it's in her blood. The girls are wearing black. The girls look like someone died. Someone did.
2. A tower and an ugly dress, there's a rip across the front, the not-so-subtle stain of crimson along the edges of the rip. She looks like death and she should. She is death, she's the portent for death, she's the cause of all the bad in the world. She stares down at the glowing below her. The velvet dress clings to her form and she's too young to be standing there with the weight on her shoulders. In one moment, she'll take the step off the tower, her foot is raised to start the decent.
She'll never get to.
3. A kiss. A cloud of dust edging around the form. He's on top of her, ridges above his brow making it obvious what he is. Fangs protruding down, ready to sink into her neck. Except there is dust, around the edges. In a second, once the flash of the camera passes, he'll be gone, he face coated with dusty tears. A kiss.
4. A boy and a girl. His arms are wrapped around her stomach, she's turned towards him just slightly her eyes on the person behind the camera. His lips are at her ear, whispering something to make the girl laugh. His eyes are on her, trained on her in a way that when she sees the picture, she won't have to question how he feels. A boy and a girl.
5. A puppy, there's a tag around his neck, 'Gizmo'. The puppy is happy, with a grin that's wide and his tongue hangs out the side of his mouth. Attached to the collar there's a ribbon, holding a ring, white gold, three inset diamonds. The light catches the ring, it sparkles. A puppy and a ring.
6. Her eyes. Blue green eyes, deep. He calls them oceans; ocean eyes. There's a fleck in her right eyes, fleck of gold that reflects the light of the flash. Her eyes.
7. She stands in front of a large canvas. Her face covered in shadow. Jeans are splattered with different color's of paint, smears, splashes, splatters. Her hair is pulled back on the top of her head, her hand running through it in frustration, paint transferring from her fingertips to her hair. Her shirt is torn, a large tattoo peaking from the rips in the back. Her body is turning towards the camera, the corner of her mouth raised up. Amusement. The canvas is dark, the form of a tower and a falling body framed behind her. His finger tip isn't out of the way of the lense, barely there, fingerprint against the glass. A canvas.
8. He's on the bed, looking up at the camera, reaching up towards it, the angle is all off, she's trying to keep it from him. The curve of her stomach visible in the corner of the image. A sheet is tangled around his hips, his eyes boring into the camera, into hers. A hand is on her side, barely visible, in a moment, he'll sit up, toss the camera away and keep her for himself. Her hand is on his chest, a shiny ring pressing over his heart. The boy on the bed.
9. The curve of her belly, a white gold ring, on a masculine hand pressing against her stomach. Lips a hair-breadth away, about to press down. Her skin stretched. The curve.
10. Love. A boy and a girl, looking into each others eyes, they can't see anything else but each other. A ring and a puppy. A belly and a tower. Pieces that make up the image, the snapshot of her life. The boy and the girl, hearts pounding because they're close together. She's touching his face, his eyes partially closed because her touch makes him sigh, it makes him able to breathe. She leans into his body, her heart pounding because she's not real, she's not real but he sees her and he always will see her. She's his, like all those years ago she was created not to save the world, keep it safe, be the key. It was for him, to be his.
It's just a snapshot. Just a scene of many in her life but it's her life. Some happened, some will happen. Every second is true. Every scene is hers. Everything is finally real.
He makes her real.

As everyone should know by now this place is not a well-oiled machine. But we do still love it and we have members still adding characters. I'm not a stickler for getting prompts done and I've been sick for a week and suddenly feeling inspired after a long time of neglecting my own characters. So I'm sick and these prompts could be lightly repeated or random. BUT, these should get you through a few months.

to improve your life.
1. Say yes. Whatever it is, just say yes.
2. Try anything at least once. I tried Fugu the other day. My lips went the slightest bit numb from the poison. It was fantastic. I hear there's a 43 foot cliff to dive off at Lake George. I know what I'll be doing when I head back to New York.
3. Find out what you don't want. This goes along with number one and two. If you try everything you'll certainly know the things you want to try again and all that you don't.
4. Stop letting others dictate your life. The only way you'll get what you desire is if you seek it out. It lessens the chances of things not going your way; and, if you're not unlike me or a certain Van der Woodsen, maybe it'll be the first time you take responsibility for your own actions.
5. Meditate. I prefer a nice hour session of yoga in my afternoon to beach sounds. I've never felt better in my life.
6. There's no perfection, so there is no need to seek it.
7. Clean. Ridiculous, right? Do your own laundry, cook your own meal, wipe up the mess on the outside so it doesn't pollute your entire being. You organize that clutter, often you regain your sanity.
8. Read. Fiction, non-fiction, biographical material, the Times, W Magazine or that Twilight shit. It doesn't matter. Simply, read.
9. Make mistakes.
10. Let go and move on.

216. TEN things that you learned about [someone] in the first hour you met them.
1 - I learned that Gibbs is kinda bossy.
2 - Gibbs also likes his coffee. He gets grumpy if he doesn't have it. Or if Timmy spills it.
3 - Tony is a walking movie quote machine! It's like he has this gigantic filing cabinet with a plethora of cheesy movie quotes that he just waits for the right moment to use. Sometimes it's the wrong moment, but -- I know. Shut up, Abby.
4 - I knew right away that Kate and I were gonna be best friends. All I had to do was loosen her up a little.
5 - When I first met McGee, I could just tell he was a gamer. He has 'geek' written all over him. And then he mentioned Zelda. I was so disappointed. I thought he'd have better taste than that.
6 - When I met Ziva, I learned that she wasn't really...educated in English metaphors and our little sayings-slash-phrases. When I started to like her, I didn't mind her flubs so much.
7 - When I met Ducky, he told me he would rather call me 'Abigail.' I prefer he didn't, but he's the only one I let call me that. He's so sweet!
8 - I think I knew that Tony was a ladies' man before ten minutes passed. When I walked up to him, he had just finished getting a girl's number and then tried to get mine, before he knew I worked with him.
9 - I knew I didn't like Chip right away. He creeped me out. And then what he did to Tony! Bad man.
10 - Within a few minutes of seeing Kate and Tony together -- we just met Kate -- I could tell she had brothers. She outwitted Tony a few times that day with snarky comments. It was funny to see him beat at his own game.

1. It was a set up; I could have been just as easily killed.
2. Since then my life has been in danger, it seems as if I attract the wrong person.
3. He always knows how I feel.
4. We could never walk hand-in-hand in the sunlight.

(Not that we ever recognize seasons or occasions and use the obvious ideas accompanying said season. That would be too cheesy. Color me cheesy today. I'm going for it.) With September comes a huge right of passage, 'the first day of school.' Some people (me) see it as a season or time of firsts.
From a different point of view: Using your imagination go back to a time when you were younger and had a first. A first day at school, the first day of a job or your first romance. Any first, any time you went out of your comfort zone.
Prompt 266 – See this question through a different age (time or place) of your character(s). Write ten good/bad things you remember from a 'first time' experience. It can be a good or bad memory.
