Dayton Human Relations Council

Established in 1962 by the Dayton City Commission, the Dayton Human Relations Council enforces civil rights; provides business and technical assistance to minority-owned, woman-owned and small disadvantaged businesses; and administers community relations initiatives that promote and maintain peace, goodwill and harmony; assists in reducing inter-group tensions, and ensures equality of treatment and opportunity to all who live, work, play, and gather in the City of Dayton.

Please enjoy some of our photos from The United Way Campaign and National Boss Day. Our team is thankful to have such an amazing leader! We always celebrate each other’s wins and made sure to celebrate Lamonte for National Boss Day. Along with this, our team also made sure to show up and show out during the United Way Campaign! Isabella participated in the chili cookoff (and her chili tasted great!). Alma also battled Paul in a very intense game of Jenga. Although HRC fell short, the game was fun to watch! Civil Rights

The Human Relations Council is responsible for the enforcement of anti-discrimination ordinances, as outlined in the City of Dayton’s Revised Code of General Ordinances. These ordinances protect our residents from discrimination in four areas: employment, housing, public accommodations, and credit transactions.

BUSINESS AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE

Through contract compliance, certification, and technical assistance, the Human Relations Council leads the City of Dayton’s efforts towards the development, inclusion and expansion of opportunities for small, local, minority-owned, women-owned, and small disadvantaged businesses.

COMMUNITY RELATIONS

The Human Relations Council strives to help create safe and inclusive communities for all residents by providing resources and outreach efforts that promote civil and human rights and facilitate harmonious relationships among Dayton’s diverse population. Initiatives include Welcome Dayton and community-police relations.
