El TT Isla de Man de 1972 fue la quinta prueba de la temporada 1972 del Campeonato Mundial de Motociclismo. El Gran Premio se disputó el 8 y 9 de junio de 1972 en el Snaefell Mountain Course. A fatal accident this year led, some years later, to the end of the Isle of Man TT as a FIM championship race. The Ultra-Lightweight race was held on the last day of the event in heavy rain, and Gilberto Parlotti crashed fatally at the Verandah section of the circuit 29 miles into his second lap; the Italian rider was 31 years old. After the death of Parlotti, his friend, Giacomo Agostini, an Italian MV Agusta rider, 9-time TT winner and a ten time 350cc and 500cc world champion, announced that he would never return to the Isle of Man to race. He considered the course too dangerous for international competition. As the years went on more top riders joined Agostini's boycott and in 1976 it was announced that the TT would be removed from the championship calendar. The British round of the FIM championship was held at Silverstone Circuit on the mainland from 1977 onwards. In the last race of the 1972 event, Agostini won his 10th TT - the most for a non-British rider. Si svolse l'8 e il 9 giugno 1972 e vi corsero tutte le classi ad eccezione di quella di minor cilindrata del mondiale, la 50. Gareggiarono per prime l'8 giugno la 250, la 350 e i sidecar, il 9 giugno si svolsero le restanti gare; tutte le prove si svolsero sul Circuito del Mountain. I vincitori furono: Giacomo Agostini che si impose nella classe 500 e nella 350 in sella a MV Agusta, Phil Read in 250 e Chas Mortimer in 125 entrambi su Yamaha; l'equipaggio tedesco Siegfried Schauzu/ si impose tra i sidecar su una BMW. Anche in questa occasione, durante la gara delle 125, vi fu un incidente mortale che coinvolse Gilberto Parlotti su Morbidelli, pilota in quel momento in testa alla classifica iridata.
