The 2017 Africa Cup Sevens is a rugby sevens tournament held in Kampala, Uganda on 6–7 October 2017. It will be the 5th championship in a series that began in 2013. The 2017 tournament serves as a qualifier for the following: * The 2018 Hong Kong Sevens qualifier tournament, where two teams compete for a chance to be a core team of the 2018–19 World Rugby Sevens Series * The 2018 Rugby World Cup Sevens, also involving the top two * The 2018 Commonwealth Games, with the top two Commonwealth of Nations members eligible.

(es) Mistrzostwa Afryki w Rugby 7 Mężczyzn 2017 – dziewiąte , oficjalne międzynarodowe zawody rugby 7 o randze mistrzostw kontynentu organizowane przez Rugby Africa mające na celu wyłonienie najlepszej męskiej reprezentacji narodowej w tej dyscyplinie sportu w Afryce, które odbyły się w Kampali w dniach 6–7 października 2017 roku. Zawody służyły także jako kwalifikacja do innych turniejów, w tym do Pucharu Świata 2018. Uganda otrzymała prawa do organizacji turnieju pokonując kandydaturę Tunezji, a zawody rozegrano w stołecznym Legends Rugby Club. Były one jednocześnie afrykańską kwalifikacją do Pucharu Świata 2018, Igrzysk Wspólnoty Narodów 2018 oraz turnieju kwalifikacyjnego do . Zawody rozegrano w dziesięciozespołowej obsadzie, miejsce Namibii zajął następnie Mauritius, rozstawienie reprezentacji nastąpiło na podstawie wyników poprzedniej edycji. Drużyny rywalizowały w pierwszym dniu systemem kołowym podzielone na dwie pięciozespołowe grupy, po czym osiem najlepszych awansowało do ćwierćfinałów, pozostałe dwie drużny zmierzyły się natomiast w dwumeczu o Bowl. Tytuł mistrzowski obroniła Uganda, która uzyskała także prawo gry w i rozegranych w ramach World Rugby Sevens Series, zaś obydwaj finaliści otrzymali prawo udziału w do światowego cyklu oraz bezpośredni awans do turnieju finałowego Pucharu Świata 2018. Z kolei na Igrzyska Wspólnoty Narodów 2018 prócz Ugandy awansowała – z uwagi na fakt, iż pozostali medaliści nie byli członkami Commonwealth – czwarta w klasyfikacji Zambia. (pl) |
