Η εταιρεία ιδρύθηκε τον Απρίλιο του 1967 με αφορμή το ναυάγιο του πλοίου Ηράκλειον από επιφανείς και μη Κρητικούς με σκοπό και στόχο την πραγματοποίηση των θαλασσίων μεταφορών μέσα από σύγχρονα, άνετα και ασφαλή πλοία, που θα είχαν τη δυνατότητα να παραδίδουν έγκαιρα τα εμπορεύματα. Στα τέλη της δεκαετίας του ´80 το μεγαλύτερο μέρος της εταιρείας εξαγοράστηκε από το ρεθυμνιώτη μεγαλοεφοπλιστή Σήφη Βαρδινογιάννη. Στις 20/9/2022 επετεύχθη συμφωνία με για την απορρόφηση της εταιρείας από την Attica Group. Τα Διοικητικά Συμβούλια των εταιριών θα συγκληθούν σύμφωνα με το νόμο και τα καταστατικά τους για να αποφασίσουν σχετικά με την έναρξη και τις επιμέρους παραμέτρους της διαδικασίας συγχώνευσης.
