An economics graduate, Ajib worked as an adviser to Musa Hitam before becoming Chief Minister of Johor in 1982. He served as Chief Minister until 1986, when he moved to federal politics, winning the seat of Mersing . He became a minister in the government of Mahathir Mohamad, but was dismissed in 1987 when Mahathir promptly purged the government cabinet of those who opposed him when they supported, among others, the then Deputy Prime Minister Tun Musa Hitam and Razaleigh Hamzah in the UMNO party presidency election. (de) Dato' Haji Abdul Ajib bin Ahmad (Jawi: عبدالعخيب بن أحمد; 13 September 1947 – 3 Februari 2011) adalah pakar ekonomi dan politikus Malaysia yang pernah menjabat sebagai Menteri Besar Johor dari 1982 sampai 1986, menggantikan Othman Saat. Di pemerintahan federal, ia juga menduduki jabatan menteri di pemerintahan Mahathir Mohamad. Ia merupakan anggota Organisasi Nasional Melayu Bersatu (UMNO) komponen partai politik koalisi Barisan Nasional (BN). Abdul Ajib mengenyam pendidikan awal di Sekolah Tinggi Segamat dan Perguruan Tinggi Hampar di Kuala Kangsar, Perak yang menjadi lulusan ekonomi (BA Hons) dari Universitas Malaya pada 1971. Ia pernah menempuh birokrasi di dan sektor publik sebagai Pegawai Perhubungan Industri di Perusahaan Minyak. Setelah terjun ke dunia politik, ia bekerja sebagai penasehat Musa Hitam sebelum menjadi Menteri Besar Johor pada 1982, kemudian ia memenangkan kursi parlemen Dewan Rakyat untuk daerah pemilihan Mersing pada 1990. Ia diangkat sebagai menteri di Kabinet Malaysia pemerintahan Mahathir Mohamad sebelum akhirnya dilakukan perombakan kabinet pada 1987 ketika beberapa anggota UMNO menentang Mahathir dan mendukung Musa Hitam dan Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah saat pemilihan presiden UMNO. Abdul Ajib meninggal dunia disebabkan oleh serangan jantung pada hari Kamis, 3 Februari 2011.
