Since 2008 the Dutch Tax Administration can designate an institution to be a "Public Benefit Organisation" (Dutch: Algemeen Nut Beogende Instelling, ANBI). At least 90% of the efforts of an ANBI has to be focused on the general good. And since 2012 the 'culturele ANBI' can profit (until at least 2018) from even more Dutch tax advantages. Sinds 2008 kan een binnen- of buitenlandse organisatie door de Nederlandse Staat als anbi worden aangemerkt. Dit heeft zowel voor die organisatie fiscale voordelen als voor de Nederlandse belastingbetaler die een gift (bijvoorbeeld een schenking) doet aan die organisatie. Vanaf 2012 zijn de anbi-definitie en -status gelijk voor de diverse belastingen: de inkomstenbelasting, de vennootschapsbelasting, de schenkbelasting en de erfbelasting.
