علي المُقري روائي يمني. ولد في حمرة، تعز، اليمن، 30 أغسطس 1966. بدأ كتابة الأدب وهو بالغ من العمر ثماني عشر سنة. وعمل محرّراً ثقافياً لمنشورات عدّة، وقد تُرجمت رواياته إلى الإيطالية والفرنسية والإنجليزية والكردية وغيرها. (ar) Ali al-Muqri (Arabic: علي المقري) (born in Taiz) is a Yemeni novelist and writer. The author's work has been published in Banipal magazine. Two of his recent novels Black Taste, Black Odour and The Handsome Jew have been long listed for the Arab Booker Prize. He has also been awarded the French Prize for Arabic Literature over the novel entitled, Ḥurma (Femme interdite), translated into French by Khaled Osman and Ola Mehanna. Some of the author's works have appeared in The New York Times, and in the French daily newspaper, La Libération. Ali al-Muqri became the chief-editor of Al-Ḥikmah in 1997, a journal of the Yemeni Writers Association. As of 2007 he has served as the editor of the literary journal, Ǧaymān.
