Alocasia reginula (original) (raw)
Alocasia reginula, black velvet, is a species of flowering plant in the family Araceae, native to Sabah state in Malaysia. Originally described from cultivation and often listed as Alocasia 'Black Velvet' as if it were a cultivar or some sort of hybrid, it has since been determined to be a true, wild species. It is only known from dry, deeply shaded limestone cliffs in Tabin Wildlife Reserve. As a houseplant it needs sharp drainage or it will be very likely to rot. * Undersides of leaves are reddish * Flowers are inconspicuous
