The Amazing Stroopwafels is een Rotterdamse band bestaande uit Wim Kerkhof (zang, contrabas, keyboards), (gitaar, accordeon en zang) en (elektrische gitaar). The Amazing Stroopwafels werden op 21 maart 1979 opgericht door Wim Kerkhof en Fred Piek (Fungus), de laatstgenoemde verliet de groep in 1981. Al vrij snel werd de band uitgebreid met , en Louis Debij (allen oud-Fungus-leden). Vanaf 1984 speelt de band in de huidige bezetting als trio, maar ook als vijfmansband versterkt met Pakvis en Debij (laatstgenoemde tot de komst van ), die ook meewerken aan het studiomateriaal. In 2019 verscheen een boek over de Amazing Stroopwafels, geschreven door "stroopwafelzoon" Merlijn Kerkhof.

The song starts in English, the second verse continues in Dutch as an impressionist story of heartbreak in the dreary industrial area of Rotterdam. In 2007 the song charted number 16 in the Top 2000, an all-times chart compiled by the listeners of Dutch Radio 2.
