Anti-Mui Tsai Activism (original) (raw)

Anti-Mui Tsai Activism is efforts to abolish the Mui Tsai system. Mui Tsai (Chinese: 妹仔; Cantonese Yale: mūi jái; lit. 'little sister') describes Chinese women, entering the system from a young age, who worked as domestic servants in China, or in brothels or affluent Chinese households in traditional Chinese society. The Mui Tsai system spread to other parts of the world through immigration and colonization, causing it to become a human rights issue with out reach as far as Great Britain and America.
