Bordoisila is a native Assamese word native to the state of Assam in India. It originally refers to the Spirit Goddess of Wind and Rain (Nature) and so wild wind occurs in Assam, that marks the incoming monsoon season, as it is accompanied with heavy showers and strong wind causing widespread damage. The word is derived from Bodo language word Bardwi-sikla , which means Bar– Wind , Dwi– Water/Rain , Sikla– Young lady .
