Bozburun Peninsula (Turkish: Bozburun Yarımadası) is a peninsula in southwest Turkey. In antiquity the cape at its extremity was called Aphrodisias (Ancient Greek: Ἀφροδισιάς). It is between the Aegean and Mediterranean seas. Datça Peninsula is to the north and the Greek island Symi is to the west. It is named after the town Bozburun which is located at 36°41′N 28°03′E / 36.683°N 28.050°E. The peninsula is a part of Marmaris ilçe (district) of Muğla Province. The peninsula is mountainous, one notable peak was called in antiquity, and modernly Karayüksek Dağ; this peak marked the beginning of the Rhodian Peraia. Sie erstreckt sich zwischen dem und dem [Yeşilova Körfezi] (im Westen) sowie dem Mittelmeer und der Bucht von Marmaris (Osten). Sie liegt südwestlich der Stadt Marmaris und nordwestlich bzw. östlich der Inseln Rhodos und Symi. Die Halbinsel zeichnet sich durch eine gebirgige Oberfläche aus, die von wenigen Ebenen (Hisarönü, Orhaniye und Turgut) unterbrochen wird. Die teils steil aufragenden Berge reichen bis unmittelbar an das Meer, wodurch die Küste überwiegend felsig und zerklüftet ist. So finden sich hier vor allem zahlreiche kleinere, jedoch auch einige tiefe Buchten (Hisarönü, Orhaniye, Selimiye, Bozburun, Bozukkale oder Loryma).
