- Carl Alwin Schenck (March 25, 1868 – May 17, 1955) was a German forester and pioneering forestry educator. He founded the Biltmore Forest School, the first forestry school in North America on George W. Vanderbilt's Biltmore Estate. His teachings comprise the foundation of forestry education in the United States. The New York Times described him as "the most influential person in making forestry in this country a science and a profession." (en)
