The Center for the History of Women Philosophers and Scientists, Center HWPS for short, is a project at Paderborn University, Germany, that is dedicated to the research on women philosophers and scientists in the history of philosophy. Director of the project is Ruth Hagengruber. The center was inaugurated on October 24, 2016, at Paderborn University and is the first of its kind in Europe. Research areas are women in early phenomenology like Edith Stein, Gerda Walther and Hedwig Conrad-Martius and women in the early European Enlightenment like Luise Gottsched and Émilie Du Châtelet. Moreover, the Center provides an online encyclopedia of concepts by women philosophers and organizes conferences, summer schools and colloquia. It also awards the Elizabeth of Bohemia Prize. (en)
