The chief of the Toronto Police Service is the professional head of the Toronto Police Service (TPS). Under the direction of the Toronto Police Services Board, the chief is responsible for the management and administration of the police service's operations. James Ramer is the current chief of police, assuming the role in an interim capacity on August 1, 2020. On September 15, 2022, the Toronto Police Services Board announced that it had selected Myron Demkiw, an acting deputy chief, as the new chief. Demkiw will assume the role on December 19.
