The China Association for Science and Technology (CAST; Chinese: 中国科学技术协会; pinyin: Zhōngguó Kēxué Jìshù Xiéhuì) is a mass organization of Chinese scientists and engineers, which is composed of multiple national professional societies and hundreds of branches at various local and international levels. CAST was formed in September 1958 through the merger of the All-China Federation of Natural Science Societies and the All-China Association for Science Popularization. Its stated goal is to act as a link between the science and technology community and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and government. CAST is a constituent member of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC). Wan Gang is the current president of the national committee of CAST. Zhang Yuzhuo serves as the Chinese Communist Party Committee Secretary for CAST. (en)
A Associação Chinesa de Ciência e Tecnologia (CAST) é uma organização não governamental sem fins lucrativos de cientistas e engenheiros chineses, composta de 167 sociedades profissionais nacionais e centenas de filiais locais em vários níveis. A CAST colaborou com mais de 30 programas governamentais e dividiu a população do país em quatro grupos de adolescentes, funcionários públicos, trabalhadores e agricultores. Até 2018, o CAST aumentou as medidas de alfabetização científica para 6,2%, de 1,6%, envolvendo o público por meio de atividades direcionadas e afastando-se de uma abordagem anterior liderada pelo governo.A Associação Chinesa e suas sociedades afiliadas são membros de mais de 250 organizações científicas e de engenharia internacionais, fazendo parte do Conselho Internacional de Ciência desde 1937.
