Chipshol is a Dutch development company. The company was founded in 1986 by Jan Poot in The Hague. Chipshol owns land around Schiphol Airport, with both residential and commercial locations. In total, Chipshol controlled 1483 acres of land. The company is headquartered in a business park near the airport. The name Chipshol is derived from the name of the airport - Schiphol - and "Chip", from the high-tech industry which Poot planned to bring to the region in a new airport city. Later nam Peter Poot de leiding van het bedrijf van zijn vader over. Chipshol werd opgericht om rond luchthaven Schiphol een woon- en werklocatie te realiseren. In 1993 was daartoe al zes miljoen vierkante meter grond gekocht. In de zuidoosthoek van de luchthaven werd een businesspark met daarin een eigen hoofdkwartier gevestigd. Het bedrijf had anno 2006 twee gebiedsontwikkelingen in voorbereiding, te weten Chipshol Park Fase II (circa 150.000 m² kantoren) en Schiphol City, een business city van circa 2 miljoen m². De naam Chipshol is bedacht omdat het een gebiedsontwikkelaar dicht bij Schiphol is, die in hightech goede mogelijkheden zag voor ontwikkeling van duurzame bedrijventerreinen van de toekomst. Vandaar de combinatie 'chips' (verwijzend naar geavanceerde technologie) en Schiphol (locatie/grondposities van de ontwikkelaar), wat samengevoegd werd tot de porte-manteau Chipshol. (nl) |
