The Classics IV is an American band formed in Jacksonville, Florida, United States, in 1965. The band, founded by Dennis Yost, is known mainly for the hits "Spooky," "Stormy," and "Traces," released 1967 to 1969, which have become cover standards. Nachdem der Songschreiber und Komponist die Formation 1968 verlassen hatte, nannte sich die Band „Classics IV Featuring Dennis Yost“. Unter diesem Namen gelangen ihnen zwei weitere Hits: Stormy, das, obwohl nur Platz 5 in den Billboard Hot 100, sogar Goldstatus erreichte, sowie Traces, mit Platz 2 der höchstplatzierte Titel der Band. 1969 änderten sie ihren Namen erneut — diesmal in „Dennis Yost and the Classics IV“.
