The Cross of the Tree of Gernika (Basque: Gernikako Arbolaren Gurutzea, Spanish: Cruz del Árbol de Gernika) is a civil medal awarded in the Basque Country, Spain. It is awarded by the Basque Government to people "who have distinguished themselves in their services to the Basque Country in defense of its identity and the restoration of its personality; and generally in social, economic and cultural fields". It is the highest distinction awarded by the Basque Government.

Estas recompensas se encuentran reguladas por la misma norma, el Decreto del Gobierno Vasco 236/1996, de 22 de octubre por el que se regula la concesión de Distinciones y Honores del Gobierno Vasco. Esta norma modifica otra anterior, el Decreto del Gobierno Vasco 86/1983, de 2 de mayo por el que se crea la «distinción de la Cruz del Árbol de Gernika», la más antigua de este conjunto. Todos los nombramientos deben efectuarse mediante Decreto del Gobierno Vasco, correspondiendo al lendakari la imposición de las insignias en una ceremonia solemne. Ninguna autoridad o persona que preste sus servicios en la administración pública vasca puede ser galardonada mientras se encuentre en activo. En todas las condecoraciones vascas se entrega, junto a las insignias, un diploma acreditativo rubricado por el Lehendakari. Antes de la concesión de una distinción, la Secretaría de la Presidencia del Gobierno Vasco debe instruir un expediente, con carácter previo, en el que se determinen las circunstancias que aconsejen la concesión. Todas ellas poseen un carácter meramente honorífico, al no conllevar prestación económica alguna.
