Estanisláo Przewodowski (22 October 1843 – 25 August 1903), also known as Estanislau Prezewodowski, was a Brazilian military officer and engineer. A veteran of the Uruguayan and Paraguayan wars, in which he fought for the Imperial Brazilian Navy and received several commendations, later being made commander of the Upper Uruguay Flotilla, based in Itaqui. Occupying this post, he became known for having ordered the bombardment of the Argentine city of Alvear in 1874, causing a diplomatic crisis between the Empire of Brazil and Argentina in reaction to an aggression against a Brazilian doctor by Argentines. He was an effective partner and founder of the Geographical and Historical Institute of Bahia. He married Felicidade Perpétua Cardozo Pereira de Mello, niece of the Baron of São Marcos, in 1895. Ocupando este posto, tornou-se especialmente conhecido por ter ordenado o bombardeio da cidade argentina de Alvear em 1874, causando crise diplomática entre o Império do Brasil e a Argentina em reação à agressão de médico da Armada por argentinos. Apesar de recepcionado como herói pela população gaúcha, foi exonerado pela participação no feito, recebendo o título de capitão de fragata de reserva. Na reserva, formou-se em engenharia, sendo nomeado engenheiro-chefe das missões de demarcação e colonização dos vales do Rio Pardo e do Jequitinhonha, além de ser gerente da Companhia de Navegação Baiana de 1894 a 1900. Foi sócio efetivo e fundador do Instituto Geográfico e Histórico da Bahia. Casou-se em 1895 com Felicidade Perpétua Cardozo Pereira de Mello, sobrinha do Barão de São Marcos. (pt)
