For Ladies Only is the sixth studio album by Canadian-American rock band Steppenwolf. The album was released in November 1971, by Dunhill Records. It is a political concept album mainly about feminism but with several more conventional songs about romance as well, both unusual themes for Steppenwolf. Some critics saw the album as sexist, citing the lyrics of the songs and a photo of a car shaped like a penis alongside the Hollywood Walk of Fame in the gatefold. The album saw the band hinting toward the progressive rock movement that was popular at the time with more complex arrangements and sophisticated keyboard playing, particularly on the title track. Like their previous album, it was accompanied by two minor hit singles which fell just short of the Top 40. Lead guitarist Kent Henry from Blues Image replaced Larry Byrom prior to recording this album. The album was Steppenwolf's last of new material released prior to the band's initial breakup in February 1972. (en)

For Ladies Only är ett musikalbum av Steppenwolf som lanserades i oktober 1971 på Dunhill Records i Nordamerika och Probe Records i Europa. Det var deras sjätte studioalbum, och åttonde totalt. Albumets titelspår och "Ride With Me" släpptes som singlar från albumet och båda listnoterades på Billboard Hot 100, dock nådde ingen så hög position. Albumet var mer demokratiskt än gruppens tidigare album då de flesta medlemmarna varit med och skrivit låtarna. Ett flertal musikkritiker antydde att de uppfattade albumet som sexistiskt på grund av dess texter och dess skivomslag som på insidan hade ett foto på en bil formad som ett manligt könsorgan. Bland annat Bud Scoppa i Rolling Stone som skrev "Efter att ha lyssnat på albumet är jag fortfarande inte riktigt säker på var de står, men låtarna gör lite för att motverka känslan av ett starkt kvinnohat". Scoppa ansåg dock att "Ride With Me" var en av gruppens bästa låtar och i jämförelse med deras tidigaste singlar.. Även i en senare recension på Allmusic ansåg Joe Viglione att "Ride With Me" var albumets bästa spår. Robert Christgau skrev att deras gest mot feminismen undergrävdes av låtar som "Jaded Strumpet" och titelspåret, samt skivomslagets utformning. (sv)
