Georg Pfeffer (* 17. Januar 1943 in Berlin; † 20. Mai 2020) war ein deutscher Ethnologe. (de) Georg Pfeffer (17 de enero de 1943 - 20 de mayo de 2020) fue un antropólogo alemán. Nacido en 1943 en Berlín de padre sociólogo alemán y madre británica, fue educado en Hamburgo. En 1959, se mudó a Lahore con su familia y estudió en el Forman Christian College de la ciudad durante 3 años. Más tarde, regresó a Alemania y estudió en la donde también completó su doctorado. Se desempeñó durante 1 año como conferencista y durante casi 6 años como profesor de etnología en la Universidad de Heidelberg. Más tarde, se unió a la Universidad Libre de Berlín y se desempeñó como profesor en su Instituto de Etnología durante casi 23 años hasta su jubilación en 2008. In 1959, he moved to Lahore with his family, and studied at the city's Forman Christian College for 3 years. Later, he moved back to Germany and studied at the University of Freiburg where he also completed his Ph.D. He served for 1 year as lecturer and for nearly 6 years as a professor of ethnology at the Heidelberg University. Later, he joined the Free University of Berlin and served as a professor at its Institute of Ethnology for nearly 23 years until his retirement in 2008. He had done fieldwork among the Adivasis of India's central regions, and in the eastern state Odisha. He also did field research in Pakistan. He was a co-founder of the European Association of Social Anthropologists and had worked at various editorial positions in a few anthropological journals.
