George Tinker (original) (raw)

George E. "Tink" Tinker (Osage Nation) is an American Indian scholar who taught for more than three decades in a Christian school of theology (United Methodist) but focused his scholarship on the decolonization of American Indian Peoples. Tinker is a citizen of the Osage Nation, and the Tinker family name is deeply embedded among the Osage. Throughout his adult life he has identified increasingly with that paternal heritage—rather than his mother’s norwegian, lutheran heritage, and that has shaped his intellectual thinking, research and writing.
