Gotham Roller Derby is a flat track roller derby league based in New York City, New York. Founded in late 2003, Gotham is the first flat track roller derby league in the metropolitan New York area and a founding member league of the sport's governing body, the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA). Gotham is one of the preeminent leagues in roller derby, having won five WFTDA Championships. Today, the league is composed of four New York City-based teams, three travel teams, a competitive developmental team, a non competitive recreational program and a juniors program for youth.

Fondée fin 2003, les Gotham Girls Roller Derby sont la première « ligue » de roller derby sur piste plate de la zone métropolitaine de New York. Les GGRD font partie des membres fondateurs de la Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA), créée en novembre 2005. Les GGRD organisent des compétitions entre les différentes équipes du club, tout en participant au championnat interclubs de la WFTDA. Le club est composé de quatre équipes qui jouent entre elles à domicile et parfois en concurrence avec les autres équipes membres des clubs de la WFTDA. Le club possède également des équipes de la compétition interclubs, les Wall Street Traitors et les Gotham Girls All-Stars, qui regroupent les meilleures patineuses des quatre équipes à domicile du club. Les Gotham Girls All-Stars représentent le club dans les compétitions interclubs qui comptent pour le classement national de la WFTDA. Les Gotham Girls Roller Derby sont constituées en association à but non lucratif. L'IRS a reconnu les Gotham Girls Roller Derby comme assujetties au 501c3 (la charité publique exonérée d'impôt en septembre 2008). (fr) |
