Die Holocaustforschung erforscht den Holocaust an etwa sechs Millionen Juden Europas (Shoa) und sein Verhältnis zu weiteren Massenmorden in der Zeit des Nationalsozialismus: darunter dem Porajmos an hunderttausenden Roma, der Aktion T4 an über hunderttausenden Behinderten und der millionenfachen Ermordung von Slawen (siehe NS-Zwangsarbeit, Generalplan Ost, Hungerplan). Als Teil der umfassenderen NS-Forschung bezieht sich Holocaustforschung auf historische Entstehungsbedingungen, Entscheidungsprozess, Organisation, Durchführung, Täter, Mittäter, Opfer, Auswirkungen und Besonderheiten des Holocaust. Dies wird weltweit erforscht, jedoch besonders in den USA, Großbritannien, Israel, Polen und Deutschland.
