John William Olney (* 23. Oktober 1931 in , Iowa; † 14. April 2015 in St. Louis, Missouri) war ein US-amerikanischer Psychiater und Neuropathologe. Er war John P. Feighner Professor für Psychiatrie sowie Professor für Pathologie und Immunologie an der Washington University in St. Louis. In 1996 he was elected to the Institute of Medicine of the United States National Academy of Sciences. He had campaigned for greater regulation of monosodium glutamate (MSG), aspartame and other excitotoxins for over twenty years. He died at his residence on April 14, 2015 at the age of 83.
