José Pablo Arellano Marin (Santiago, March 18, 1952) is an economist, academic, researcher, company director, consultant and Chilean politician, a member of the Christian Democrats. He was Minister of Education under the governments of Eduardo Frei Ruiz-Tagle and of Michelle Bachelet, chief executive officer of Codelco-Chile, a state-owned company and also the largest company in the country.His father was José Arellano, a Falangist former mayor of Cartagena and former president of the Association of Municipalities of the time. He died when Arellano was just four years old.He has been married since 1975 to the preschool teacher and landscape designer María Elena (Manena) Recabarren, and they have four children, José Pablo, Magdalena, Andrés and Francisca.

Con la vuelta a la democracia en 1990 el presidente de la República Patricio Aylwin lo designó director nacional de Presupuestos, cargo en el que es ratificado por el siguiente presidente, Eduardo Frei Ruiz-Tagle y en el que se desempeñó por seis años. En el gobierno de este último, además ejerció como ministro de Educación, desde 1996 hasta 2000 y luego en el de Michelle Bachelet, presidente ejecutivo de Codelco-Chile, desde 2006 hasta 2010.​​​ Actualmente realiza clases de pregrado en la Pontificia Universidad Católica (PUC) y en la Facultad de Economía y Negocios (FEN) de la Universidad de Chile.
