Judy Griffin is an American author and politician, and a member of the New York State Assembly, representing the 21st district which includes portions of the town of Hempstead in Nassau County on Long Island. A Democrat, Griffin was first elected in 2018. In 2018, she decided to run for the New York State Assembly in District 21 against incumbent Republican Brian F. Curran of Lynbrook, New York who had held the seat since 2010. In the 2018 New York state elections on November 6, 2018, Griffin unseated Curran, 51% to 46%. It is the first time a Democrat has held the seat in 42 years.
