| dbo:abstract | There are one peninsula, one main island, and several small artificial islands in the Macao Special Administrative Region. The main island is located to the south of the Macau Peninsula and at the east of Hengqin Island of the Pearl River (Zhujiang), Guangdong Province, China. The island remains unnamed since its creation in the late 1990s, after the reclamation project of Cotai which filled up the channel between the islands of Coloane and Taipa. Historically, the unnamed island was under the administration of the Concelho das Ilhas, it is however now divided into the Coloane, Cotai, and Taipa districts. The Macau Peninsula was once an island on the Pearl River Delta. It has linked to Zhongshan Island as a result of sedimentation and became a peninsula approx. two thousand years ago. Apart from this case, all of the Macanese former islands were merged either to the Macau Peninsula or the newly unnamed island directly or indirectly as the result of artificial land reclamation. (en) Atualmente, existe apenas uma ilha no território de Macau, que localiza-se ao sul da península da região administrativa especial e ao leste da ilha Hengqin no rio das Pérolas, na província de Cantão, na República Popular da China. A ilha permanece sem nome desde a sua criação no final da década de 1990, após o projeto de recuperação de Cotai que encheu o canal entre a ilha de Taipa e a ilha de Coloane. Historicamente, a ilha sem nome era administrada pelo Concelho das Ilhas. Atualmente, a ilha é dividida pelos distritos de Taipa, Coloane e Cotai. A península de Macau era uma ilha do Delta do Rio das Pérolas, que ligava a China continental como resultado da sedimentação que tornou-a uma península cerca de mil anos atrás. Para além deste caso, todas as ex-ilhas macaenses foram integradas na península de Macau ou na recente ilha sem nome, direta ou indiretamente, como resultado de um aterro marítimo.
