Local government in Nepal is the third level of government division in Nepal, which is administered by the provincial governments which in turn is beneath the federal government. Article 56 of the Constitution of Nepal 2015 defines local government as rural municipalities, municipalities and district assemblies. The governing body of the rural municipalities and municipalities is referred to as the village executive and municipal executive respectively. The district assembly is governed by the District Coordination Committee.
