Madosini (bürgerlich Lathozi Mpahleni) (* 1939 in Mqekezweni nahe Umtata) ist eine traditionelle Interpretin der Xhosa-Musik und Erzählerin im Mpondoland in Südafrika. In ihrer Jugend lernte Madosini das Herstellen und Spielen von Instrumenten durch ihre Mutter. Sie singt und spielt dazu Instrumente wie umrhubhe (gestrichener Mundbogen), uhadi (Kalebassen-Musikbogen) und sitolotolo (Maultrommel). Ihre Musik wurde erstmals bei Filmaufnahmen 1974 aufgezeichnet und im Radio gespielt, ohne dass man ihr Entgelt zahlte. Sie nahm 1997 ein eigenes Album auf, arbeitete mit anderen Musikern zusammen (unter anderem im Rahmen von WOMAD) und trat 2007 auch in Deutschland auf. Ihr Musikstück Wen'usegoli zählte zum Soundtrack des südafrikanischen Films Eine Frau namens Yesterday (2004).

She performs under the name Madosini and is regarded as a "national treasure" in her field. Over the years she has collaborated and written songs with British Rock Singer Patrick Duff and in 2003 they went on to perform a number of successful concerts together around the world. She has collaborated with South African musicians Thandiswa Mazwai, Ringo, Derek Gripper and Gilberto Gil the famous Brazilian musician. Her latest collaboration with musicians Hilton Schilder, Jonny Blundell, Lulu Plaitjies and Pedro Espi-Sanchis has resulted in the recording of an African/Jazz fusion CD under the name of AmaThongo and various concerts around Africa.Madosini and Pedro have performed together at many music festivals as well as story telling and poetry festivals around the world, notably the Medellin International Poetry Festival in Colombia. From 2006, Madosini performed at many of the WOMAD festivals around the world, and was the first person to be recorded and documented in the festival's Musical Elders Archives project. Madosini continues to perform around the world. Her music takes the audience deep into the well springs of music and represents some of the earliest roots of Jazz in Africa.
